Hi teachers, greetings from Malaysia.
I wish to know what is the correct pronunciation of the first syllable in Cheryl, is it rhymes with shar, a silent ch or is it rhymes with che as in cherry?

I would inevitably pronounce it as in 'sherry', but I would not be very surprised to be corrected. People (at least, Americans) are very idiosyncratic and persnickety about their names.
