The pronunciation of the article 'the'

For me, as a Dutchman, the pronunciation of the definite article 'the' is fairly hard.

I tend to pronounce it as [d?], quite much like the Dutch definite article 'de'.

How should I pronounce the article 'the' in English?

Ron.
