The pronunciation of "Colfax"

How would you pronounce the word "Colfax"?
It's a surname (Schuyler Colfax was a vice-president of the United States in the second half of the 19th century) and it's also a placename (in Canada and in the United States).
I suppose that the pronunciation is ['koulfäks]: with the stress on the 1st syllable, -ou- as in "cold" [kould], and, in the 2nd syllable, -ä- as in "cat" [kät]: am I right?
Many thanks for your answers.
