Speech & Pronunciation

The pronunciation of "a" in a sentence.

I have a little pronunciation problem:

Some times I hear in sentences that the indefinite article "a" is pronounced / (missing image) / and other times /ej/ e.g. "a man who is sick can't work"

What is the proper, correct or educated pronunciation of the I.A. "a"

Thank you in advance!!!!!

A.

My two cents: Normally, it should be /ae/ sound. (in a sentence preceding a word which starts with a consonant) But it can be pronounced as /ei/ not /ej/ or / /. I was taught not to pronounce it as / / in formal speech , /ei/ is the strong version a nd / / is mostly used in daily speech.
