The pronounciation of things and sings

I've heard on the radio that DJ from UK said "I don't like Mel Gibson. He said truly dumb things".

She pronounced it as sings for things not ?í?s.

from my english teachers-I've lived in an Asian country-I should pronounce thing as ?í?.

Do the British people pronounce things as sings?
