Is second sentence verb+ing correct to use?

the process of purification sounds more natural, I have never heard about the second usage, I think it is rubbish :-)

The second expression is correct , you can also use the preposition(for)

" For purifying "

One more quick comment: ... in her body, not "of" her body.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that the second sentence is "rubbish", but it would be greatly improved by adding a direct object to 'purifying', such as 'the system'.
