The problem got aggravated...

Hi

Could you please tell me if the underlined phrase is natural English? Any other suggestions for better register?

As time went by, he problem/disease/issue got aggravated beyond control.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi It's good colloquial English: - Why did you hit your sister? - She just went on and on and I was aggravated beyond control In different registers, you could say it in many ways: - As time went by, the disease spread and became inoperable ... but it very much depends on the context Dave
