The Present Simple vs Continuous

I've got 2 questions connected with the Present Continuous and the Present Simple. I know that the Present Continuous is used to describe temporary situations and the Present Simple to describe permanent situations. But I'm confused about two examples.

1. I attend Hight School vs I'm attending High School?

2. My cousin studies medicine. She works hard vs My cousin's studying medicine. She's working hard?
