The present perfect vs the simple past

Hello everyone. I have a question.


Regarding the following two sentences:


(A) Stephen has made nine movies, and I think his latest is the best.

(B) Stephen made nine movies, and I think his latest is the best.


I think (A) is better than (B), but I'm not sure how (B) sounds to native speakers. Does it sound odd? Or is it still acceptable?
