The position of "in those days"

Which would sound natural?
(a) In those days Mary came to see me almost every day.
(b) Mary came to see me almost every day in those days.

(a) reads slightly better to me. (b) is not wrong, but the "day ... days" proximity is slightly noticeable (more so in writing than in speech, I think).
