the plural for 'euro'

Hi,

QUOTE -

According to European Union provisions, euro and its subdivision cent take no final "s" in the plural.

-UNQUOTE

Is there any logic behind such "provisions"?
Isn't that a little .... unusual to your eye?

Thank you!

  • No, because 'yen' are treated the same.
  • However, I thought that the plural of 'euro' (whether 'euro' or 'euros') depended on the language used; it seems to me I read something to that effect when the currency was first instituted.
