the place (where) it's set

"What do you like or dislike about the book's writing style? Is it funny? Does it give you a sense of the place it's set?"

Please, shouldn't 'where' be added as shown in the title?

Thank you

g. "the place that I visited" -> "the place I visited"), so one can argue that "where" can be omitted too. In a formal context I would probably go with "the pace in which it's set".

As "that" can be omitted in similar contexts (e.g. "the place that I visited" -> "the place I visited"), so one can argue that "where" can be omitted too. In a formal context I would probably go with "the pace in which it's set".
