The place of "even"

Hi,

This sentence is extracted from a article.

People can determine the gender of fetuses before they are even born.

Is there any difference between the above sentence with this one ?

People can determine the gender of fetuses even before they are born.

And if they are similar, what does the writer mean to write so? I think "even before" is more common.

Thanks.

I agree with you. The author's word order is lower register, often used by excitable people in casual conversation. They decide they need an intensifier at the last instant.
