The percentage of thrillers which won Oscars decreased dramatically from nearly a half to about 35%, but it still made up the largest percent in both 2 years. Whereas, there was an enormous rise in the proportion of Oscar winners for Action and Science Fiction films in 2003 and 2008. However, Oscar winners for horror films accounted for less than a fifths in 2003 and just one in twelve in 2008. Meanwhile, documentory and romance films both grew constantly their share of Oscars between 2003 and 2008. The percentage for comedy films which won Oscars stayed the same in 2003 and 2008 at about 5 percent.
