The person that I am today

Hello everyone. I have a couple of questions.

Regarding the following question:

He's made me the person that I am today.
= He's made me [ ] I am today.

Q1 What is the best word to fill in the bracket in the above sentence? Is it "what," or "who"?

Q2 Could you tell me the difference between the sentences "He's made me what I am today" and "He's made me who I am today"?

For me, "what" feels rather more idiomatic, but "who" is used too. I see no difference in meaning. t1%3B%2Cmade%20me%20what%20I%20am%3B%2Cc0
