the person contribute to feel well?--- grammaticallty correct?

Hello!

.............................

People are more likely to pay attention to certain bodily sensation, such as aches and pains, when they are under stress and to decide that they are "sick." If the person were not under stress, the same bodily sensations might not be perceived as symtoms and the person might contribute to feel "well."

................................

When I read the above passage, I thought something was wrong. A person contribute to one's own feeling? Is that a right sentence?
