The peacemakers or peacemakers

Hi. In Matthew 5:9 in the New International Version of the Bible, it is stated:

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Now, does it have to be "the peacemakers"? Can't it be "peacemakers" without the definite article "the" like "Blessed are moms, for they are ...." (Let something appropriate come after the phrase "they are.") Do we need the definite article "the" before the word "moms," too? Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, both are correct.

Regarding "moms," if I were to write that, I would probably use "mothers" instead of "mom." At any rate, you could use the article or you could forego it.

If you omitted "the" then it would disrupt the style of the series of beatitudes, so stylistically, it is necessary.
