The Past perfect tense and specific time expressions

I know that any specific time expression like "last year" cannot be used with the present perfect tense. Is that the same for the past perfect tense? Can I use a specific time expression with the past perfect tense?

Can I say "I ate a very delicious piece of cake some days ago in that cafe, I had eaten the same cake on my last trip in Japan as well"?
