The participation or participation

1.The CEO of our company will participate in the meeting.

2.So people are happy to learn that the participation of the CEO because he is an important person.

Usually the noun 'participation' is an uncountable one.

Is the second sentence fine? I don't think so.

You're right, it's not correct.

You either need a verb in the that-clause (i.e. change the noun to a verb):

"..happy to learn that the CEO will participate because..."

or, if you want to keep the noun, use "of":

"...happy to learn of the participation of the CEO because..."

As a side note, "so people" doesn't work at the beginning of the s

Rotter - yes, it is a verb there. "will" in the auxiliary verb, and "participate" is the main verb.

Charismatic - no, that's not correct. As far as I can see, it's the same as Rotter's second sentence in the original post? As I said above, it either needs a verb in the that-clause, or to replace the "that" with "of".
