The Panda

Is'nt it strange that the same set of words can convey different meanings. Here is a very funny joke:

A panda went to a restaurant for a meal. After ordering and consuming his lunch, he took out a revolver and blasted the daylights out of the restaurant. Bullets flew everywhere, windows shattered, lights exploded as all the patrons ducked for cover. He then calmly wiped his mouth with his napkin and sauntered toward the door. The owner, shocked and appalled beyond belief, screamed at him: "What was that all about?" The panda turned as he exited and disdainfully replied: I'm a panda, look it up" The horrified owner went to his office where he had a dictionary and found the reference for Panda. "A large mammal, resembling a bear, native to Western China, eats shoots and leaves!"

Miriam, I agree with the use of commas in writing. But how would one convey the same when spoken orally. It is usually done with the use of a pause. But the above example 'eats shoots and leaves' is a case which could convey either of the meanings when spoken unless the speaker uses actions to justify.
