The order of participle phrases

1. The gentleman extended his hand, saying "I love you"
1.1. Saying "I love you," the gentleman extended his hand.

2. He danced on the stage, pretending to play an invisible guitar.
2.2. Pretending to play an invisible guitar, he danced on the stage.

Q1) I'm not sure why but I think #1 and 2 sound more natural than 1.1. and 2.2. respectively. What do you think?

Q2) What about the sentences below. Do they sound okay? Do they still sound okay if the participle phrases move to the end of the sentence just like #1 and #2?

3. Walking on tiptoe, the thief sneaked into the house.

4. Listening to music, she lay on the bed.

5. Glancing here and there, I walked along the street.

Both are grammatical. 1.1 is probably more commonly found in literary works. Essentially what you are do
