The only way to improve road safety is to give much stricter punishments on driving offenses. To what extent do you agree or disagree

Road safety is one of the most tremendous problems in modern society. Som people say that sterner punishments are the best way to reducce traffic accidents. But I think that there are more effective methods to road safety improvement

On the one hand, that irresponsible drivers are strictly punished is neccessary. Penalties for careless drivers discourage them from repeating the same offences next time. There are several kinds of penalties depending on how seriously drivers break the law. For instance, fines are for those driving on the wrong lane or parking on inappropriate places. Moreover, cars will be colleted if the drivers exceed the restricted speed. Those who drive cars in drunk state will be both fined and confiscated their cars because those will lead to severe accidents. Stricter punishment is a good way to make road safer.

On the other hand, nowadays, there are many punishment kinds which are more effective and easy for people to obey. Firstly, taking public transport is a wonderful way to decrease vehicles on road. The less the vehicles are, the more secure the space is. Secondly, people need to raise their own awareness of security on road. Just The punishments are not enough, drivers have to take responsibility for their driving for others' safety and theirs.

Come to conclusion, besides the strict punishment, I suggest another two ways to make road safer. I believe that the government have many plans to improve the road safety
