The Obscure Artist

THE OBSCURE ARTIST

These beautiful ridges,
And the high mountains.
Those colourful bridges,
Although the connection is uncertain.
Who drew them?
What inspires him?

This deep blue water,
Into which these rivers drain.
The way clouds scatter,
And brings down the rain.
Who paints them?
What stimulates him?

The gentle rustle of leaves,
The fear-striking thunder.
The soothing music of waves,
Causes the listener to wonder
Who composes them?
What encourages him?

These rounded pebbles,
And those with different textures.
The weathered and shaped boulders,
And those with different colours.
Who sculpts them?
What entices him?

It's a nice poem, Ramkryp. I am curious about the title and your use of the word "obscure" (not discovered or known about; uncertain). " This attribution of 'self' to the four rhetorical questions makes me feel as if you, the author, know the answer/identity/motivation of "him" but that I, your reader, am not privy to this information.

At the end of each stanza you refer to "him." This attribution of 'self' to the four rhetorical questions makes me feel as if you, the author, know the answer/identity/motivation of "him" but that I, your reader, am not privy to this information.

Thank you Johnparis,

I've not attributed 'self' to these questions, these are the questions I pose to myself. The questions which makes me to think about the unknown artist who has created this wonderful world. Well, if a creator has created this world, then the answer for these questions is 'the creator'. If not, then it's created by an Unknown power, which I call "The Obscure Artist"

You're welcome.

I don't see much original poetry coming through here, and it is refreshing and heartening to see that someone is still interested. Keep up the good work.

By any chance, do you subscribe to the weekly magazine The New Yorker? It is available online and in print and always contains at least two or three examples of the best original poetry around toda
