The noun TENSION

I do not know if "tension" is a countable or an uncountable noun. In Spanish is countable but I am not sure about that in English!
Can I say "The tensions..." or should I say " there was some tension..."?

It is generally uncountable, but you can say it either way here, since each person has his own tension.
