The noun case needs when or where?

Which relative adverb does the noun, case need , 'where' or 'when'? I know nouns meaning places need 'where' and nouns meaning time need 'when' but I cannot figure out which one is suitable for case. What do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual and I hope to hear from you.

You can use either pronoun. If you write some sentences, we can tell you the cases where one might be preferred over the other.
