(The) negative stereotypes

Hello all.
I am describing to someone a book I've just read.

I didn't like this book. It was dry. (The) negative stereotypes offended me.

Imagine that these negative stereotypes are mentioned for the first time. The person I am speaking with may not have read the book. Is 'the' correct? It's the negative stereotypes that are there in the book. I think the context makes it evident.

Without the article before "negative" it will look strange, no?

Another thing I think I can do is say:
The negative stereotypes that are found in the book offended me.

Native speakers, what do you think?
Thank you for reading this.

  • Yes.

  • This is not actually incorrect, but there seems no reason to add "that are found in the book" as it is obvious.
