the nearest (one)

Hi,

Do you have to say "This café is the nearest" or "This café is the nearest one" ? Or, if both are correct, is there any difference in meaning or situation you would prefer one of the two sentences ?

The nearest to what? To where you are right now?

I would say "Francesca's Cafe is the closest," but you can include the word "one" as well.

I can't tell you why I would say "closest" rather than "nearest," but it sounds more natural to me.
