The narrator/speaker

Though a work of fiction, Robinson Crusoe is written in an autobiographical style. The narrator is a young man called Robinson Crusoe.

Is "narrator" in the above interchangeable with "speaker?" If not, could you tell me why in a few words? Thanks.
