00I've asked a friend who speaks Latin and he says that "Nomen est omen" is fine, it is just not the same as "Nomen est omnis". The latter means "the name is everything", the first is closer to your translation (omen - like in English). 0-

Hi Clive, omnis is not used because nomen est omen means 'a name is a sign'. So omen is appoprietly used here. It means that the name hints at the character/true form of the name's bearer, be it an object or a person.

they have a different meaning:
nomen est omen means your destiny is within your name.

While "name says it all" means the meaning is represented by the name. There is absolutely no link to the concept of "destiny"
