The name of plate for waste material

I've never heard of anyone putting food in the dog's dish while eating. It implies that the dish would be on the dining table, which is vastly unlikely in any English-speaking place I know of. Also, "the waste material when you eat" suggests fruit pits, shells, etc., which I hope no one gives to their dogs.
