The music

I've got 2 short questions:

1. Is it correct to use "the" before the word "music"?

For example:
I like the music they create.

2. "This is only my opinion and the tunes on the album are really pleasant (too pleasant, that's why they lack that something), although you can readily hear that the band has put a lot of work in creating the music and each song is done with perfection, if you like pop you'll find this album very interesting."

Should I say "the band has or have"?
Can I say "creating the music"?

Thanks in advance for replies.
