(The) mushrooms - article needed?

Hello,

Could someone please help me with this sentence?

We decided to go the woods to pick mushrooms. There were a lot of us, each one of us had a basket, and we liked to be active. So, once we were in the woods, every one of us was busy picking the mushrooms.

I decided to omit the definite article before my 2nd mention of "mushrooms" because they are still not definite enough for me. It's still non-specific, "some".

(Sorry for posting this again, but no one answered the first time).

Don't want to confuse you, but I think you are right about not using 'the'. Let's waite for someone else's opinion.

Correct. Most of the time in situations of searching, the definite article doesn't come into it because you can't yet specifically identify what you find before you find it.
