Hello,

When we say

I liked the movie Matrix. Here we use "THE."

BUt when you say

I welcomed Senator Rodham. HEre we use no "THE."

Is the difference between a PERSON and an object?

Yes. That is also why it gets a capital letter. "I like the senator from Illinois." "I like Senator Rodham of Illinois."
