The most

He is most popular here.

He is the most popular here.

He is the most popular guy here.

Are they correct? Is an object needed in the second sentence? Is 'guy' omitted in the second sentence?

Thanks

Hi LiJ English is very inexact with regard to the superlative. All sentences can be considered correct. Strictly speaking, the first one should mean: He is very/extremely popular here since "the" is missing.

LiveinjapanAnother example of absolute suprelative is:

The lake is deepest here.

Right?
No, because there is comparison in your sentence: the lake is being compared with itself. I don't think I know a term for this superlative at all. Perhaps someone else can help. To read more about superlatives, see .
