"the more ... the more"

Could you please say, is the following sentence correct?

"The more is the range of topics a person can discuss the more

interesting conversation parter he or she is."

Thanks in advance.

No. And I think 'is' is overly optimistic. "The greater the range of topics a person can discuss , the more interesting a conversation partner he or she can be.

Hi victor,

I have a suggestion:

The more ranges of topics a person can discuss, the more interesting he's in conversations.

I can't say that I'm right or that you are wrong. But your beginning "The more is the range" seemed wrong to mee. Let's wait for an answer of proficient speaker.

Edit: I didn't see your answer MM. What do you think about my sentence ?

Hello Mr Micawber, Alex,

Thanks for your comments.

Mr Micawber,

My doubts were concerned exactly with the first "is" you've

left out. The following seems awkward to me:

"The greater the range of topics a person can discuss"

I would like to ascertain whether the highlighten "the" is really

necessary in that clause.

Alex,

'The greater the range' is fine. Cf: the more the merrier, the sooner the better, etc.
