Where does "would be" go? Can you please give an explanation.

The more they work, the more reformed they would be.

OR

The more they work, the more they would be reformed.

Either arrangement is fine. As conditionals, I'd change tenses: The more they worked , the more reformed they would be. OR The more they work, the more they will be reformed.

Either arrangement is fine. As conditionals, I'd change tenses:

The more they worked, the more reformed they would be.

OR

The more they work, the more they will be reformed.

The first version feels like "to be with adj. complement"; the second feels like "passive voice."
