The more chaining that occurs,...

Dear all,

The more chaining that occurs, the denser, the less porous the polymer becomes.

I find this "that" a little difficult to understand. Is there a grammatical term for this "that"?

Is it at all possible to omit this "that"...?

I am looking forward to your comments. Many thanks in advance Emotion: smile))

The more the chaining occurs,

Hi again, AlpheccaStars -- beautiful name, BTW!

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your advice, too.

When I have to write some English sentences, I want to make them clear, natural, and ... crisp, as much as possible. I need to use all the help I could get here, really.
