The modern term for "lodging"

Hi,

The word "lodging," as a noun, meaning 'a room in someone's house which you live in and pay rent for' is labelled as "old-fashioned" on some dictionaries.

I was wondering what the modern term is.

Please kindly shed some light. Emotion: smile
