the millionth doubt about "due to"

00I'm really sorry: I've spent all the day in reading a lot of posts about "due to/because of" issue, but I couldn't find out if I should use "due to" or "because of" in the following sentence 05002br

0As I know, "due to" is colloquial, and since the sentence looks to be from a scientific article, I think "because of" fits it better. 010id1
