Hi! I read the following in a TOEIC book:



“55. Is ______ milk on the table cold or hot?



(A) a

(B) an

(C) the

(D) X (None of the above)



(Answer: C)” ((Step up TOEIC Bridge Intermediate, p. 283))



Do you agree with the above that C is the ONLY correct answer?
What about D? Isn’t there any case in which D is correct?

(Is the following sentence ALWAYS wrong? - “Is milk on the table cold or hot?”)
