The Mentalist Season 2 Episode 1

Hi,

I'm new and not very good in english. But I hope I can be good from now on.

My question regarding The Mentalist Season 2 Episode 1:
at the beginning a captain refer Jane as a "Carnec". I search the word but do have any result. Is it not an English word? The meaning I guess is about "Master" or "Magician", am I right? Aslo, the captain said "What does Ivor say?" Why he use the word "Ivor". Does it mean the dead man?

Thanks for help

Thanks for your reply. Ivor is the real name from the show. Agree with enoon, Ivor is a man's name.
