The meeting started on time

The meeting started on time. There was pin-drop silence as the President spoke. I sat at the front row seat beside a lady who represented the United Kingdom.

Is there any  mistake? Thanks

I don't much care for 'pin-drop silence'; it is overly precious. The meeting started on time. There was absolute silence as the President spoke.

Thanks MM. One more question: Is the last sentence grammatically incorrect? (I assume that you have made the corrections to make it sound good. Am I right?)

Your original is grammatically fine and your assumption is correct; I am just trying to give you some ideas on polishing sentence flow.
