please have a look at the following sentences;

1) Meaning of many words depends on their context.
2) The meaning of many words depends on their context.

- Which one is correct?
- Can 2 be interpreted that there is one meaning (instead of each word having its own meaning) for all these many words taken together and it depends on context?
- If yes, then will we achieve a desired effect if we say The meanings of many words depend on their context or it will be even more ambiguous?
