The meaning of ‘your butt can’t handle the switch’
The passage below is from Pipe Dreams by Chelsea Wald.
Unfortunately, the softest rolls are made from trees in the boreal forest of Canada, a “vast landscape of coniferous, birch, and aspen trees [that] contains some of the last of the world’s remaining intact forests, and is home to over 600 Indigenous
communities, as well as boreal caribou, pine marten, and billions of songbirds,” according to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) 2019 report The Issue with Tissue. These gorgeous trees produce longer fibers, which make for stronger, softer, more luxurious tissue. While many toilet paper products boast sustainability certifications, trees still get cut down making them, and, as one reporter put it, “destroying forests to wipe our butts can keep you up at night.” The NRDC recommends recycled toilet paper—but if you find that your butt can’t handle the switch, you’re not alone.
In this passage about the bold-faced part I have a question.
Let me tell you my guess.
But after switching to recycled toilet paper and if your bottom is not comfortable with the switch, you’re in company of many others. (Recycled toilet paper still leaves much to be required.)
(Am I right?)
Thanks in advance.
