Hi there,
When I was reading a NPR reporter's profile, a sentence confused me. It goes "he (the journalist) has recorded the sonic calling cards of itinerant merchants in Beijing's back alleys, and the descendants of court musicians of the Tang Dynasty." Anyone could help explain the meaning of "sonic calling cards" in here?
Many thanks.
