The meaning of 'shine detail'

Hi guys,

Could you please take a look at the next sentence and tell me what does it mean there...'shine detail'

He would order her to his room every Sunday for shine detail.

Does it mean

a) cleaning shoes? ....They were really doing it in that room.

b) Talk about the problems?....They also talked in that room about the problems which they have.

As far as I can tell from the context you give, it refers to cleaning shoes. A "detail" can mean a task that one is assigned to do (especially in the military, though it could be used in other contexts too).

You surely must have some helpful context here. It makes no sense. Who are they? What's their relationship?
Of course "shoes" is obvious if this is a spit & polish military guy. Is he? What's she doing in his room? It's obviously not theirroom. Give us a break!

I am guessing there is at least some sexual connotation here, as there can be with almost anything involving a lot of rubbing in a single spot.
