The meaning of "pop out to the 7-11"

Hello. I'm portuguese English Language Teacher and I'm desesperate because I can't find the meaning of the expression "I pop out to the 7-11" anywhere.

I believe it's an american expression.

If someone could help me I would be eternally grateful.
