The meaning of impatient (To Clive)

Hello,

Could you tell me please why 'impatient' is defined in this way in the dictionary; 'annoyed or irritated'? As one of the definitons of 'annoyed' is 'irriatated' why do they give them both as two diffrent adjectives? According to this definition I understand the meaning of 'impatient' in this way; Impatient means 'annoyed' which means 'irritated,' or 'bothered' and then 'irritated' is repeated again in this definition. Would it be a mistake to use only 'annoyed' to define impatient?

Thanks

Well, two words might be similar in meaning to some extent, but they could never be exactly the same. They look, sound and feel different... so not exactly the same in essence.

I will look at them. Thanks for your advice, but I don't think other dictionaries will be better. May I ask you to define it for me?
