The meaning of "hree years from now"?

Hi,

Could you help me clarify the meaning of "three years from now? Thank you.

What do I want to be doing three years from now? If I said that sentence in 2010, that means

after three years. (after 2013). If my explanation is coreect, why don't we just say that " What do I want to be doing after three years?

Thank you again.

Well, the sentence doesn't say "after three years from now" , so the only possible interpretation is "in 2013" rather than "after 2013". What will you be doing (in) two years from now. (in exactly two years) What will you be doing after 2013?

  • (much more natural than "after three years from now") What will you be doing after three years of your contract end/have ended?
