The meaning of 'Father'

the meaning of 'Father'

The passage below comes from Word Smart II as follows.

https://books.google.co.kr/books?id=dnJmFMJLqAcC&pg=PA57&lpg=PA57&dq=%22she+called+Father+and+had+the+waiter+fired%22&source=bl&ots=Cy_cqKEpOc&sig=rig9bIhZ8Sd1KfgvRCnFjDA24Zc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiI6eSolavJAhXGraYKHZKlClwQ6AEIGjAA#v=onepage&q=%22she%20called%20Father%20and%20had%20the%20waiter%20fired%22&f=false

Mother felt that the waiter had been brusque when he told her to put on shoes before entering the restaurant, so she called Father and had the waiter fired.

In this sentence, I'd like to ask a question regarding the underlined 'Father'.
When the word is capitalized, it usually refers to a priest, but in this context I don't think it does.
But it also seems a bit strange that it refers to a male parent.

Can you make me out of this dilemma?

Regards.

Stenka25 But it also seems a bit strange that it refers to a male parent. I think that's what it refers to. Note also the reference to "Mother" in that text.

Thanks a lot as always, teechr.
One last thing, does this Capitalization which brought up my question happen frequently?

I don't know what you mean by "happen frequently", but It's standard.

If we use such words as mother, mom, mum, father, dad, as names, then they should begin with a capital letter:

My father is an engineer.
It's good to see you again, Father.
I went to the zoo with my mum.
I went to the zoo with Mum.
